About the Area

The Convention Center and Civic Plaza anchor the Downtown hotel district along 2nd and 3rd streets. Caviland is the closest dispensary north of that cluster, on the quieter blocks between Lomas and Mountain. Visitors should note that New Mexico prohibits consumption in public places and most hotels prohibit smoking indoors; edibles and vape products are the discreet choice for a hotel stay.

Visiting from Out of Town?

Any adult 21 or older with a valid government-issued photo ID from any state or country can buy recreational cannabis in New Mexico. No medical card, no residency, no appointment.

Bring cash or a debit card (credit cards are not accepted at New Mexico dispensaries; there is an ATM on site). Consumption is prohibited in public places, in vehicles, and in most hotel rooms, so edibles and vapes are the practical choice for a stay. Cannabis cannot leave New Mexico or go through airport security. New to cannabis? Read Cannabis for Beginners first, and start with 2.5–5 mg if you choose an edible.
